Another year has passed and 2008 is within a few hours away. In 2007, many great things occurred and many great shames took place.
Most Nobel Prize winners were rightly given to the people that deserved them this year; Chemistry – Gerhard Ertl, Economics – Leonid Hurwicz, Eric Maskin, Roger Myerson, Literature – Doris Lessing, Physics Albert Fert, Peter Grunberg; but I must say that the (Peace) Nobel Prize winner this year really caused a lot of controversy. Winner Al Gore Jr. was awarded the (Peace) Noble Prize for making and producing a movie describing the global warming ( I can't stop from giggling). After receiving his award, he jumped on his Private huge plane, flew to America and went back to his ultimate mansion. (HOW IRONIC). Now he is the perfect example of “do what I say, not as I do”.
Britney Spears has hit a lot of controversy this year by proving not to be a fit mother, and literally losing control out of her life. Britney, after being the number one celebrity in the paparazzi scope, one person over-showed her and that was her sister. But the shame does not go to them, but to their mother and father. Ironically enough, Lynne Spears wrote a book about parenting. Thank God it was pulled off the shelves.
The Iraq war has made some great improvements and less Americans are dying in the battle field. America is pouring billions and billions into Iraq and Afghanistan, and human rights are improving. Women are being allowed to attend schools and are actually starting to be independent. The irony here is that America is doing this and not the Iraqi government. In fact the Iraqi government is not in control; its success is owed to the men and women of America who are willing to sacrifice family, personal time and their very own life. Iraq and Afghanistan citizens need to be held accountable for their actions and the state of their country.
Over all, it has been a blessed year personally for my family, friends and I. Our church is growing and it seems that we are in great health, physically and spiritually. Although, things around the world are slowly decaying before us, we must remember that we are aliens of this world. Earth is not our home and a year that passes by is simply that, a year. All we must remember to do is to be thankful to the Lord for the things that He blesses us with and pray for those in need. God has no years or time, so let’s remember Him in our actions, conversations and our ways of thinking. Give Him thanks for our Salvation on the Cross and ask for His return and will to come.
“From beginning to end, our God is there! What is there for us to fear? What can happen that can change this one undeniable reality? We belong to the God who is always there, who always cares for us, and who will always work to bring us salvation! No matter what happens to us tomorrow, or the next day, or the one after that, our destiny lies with the God who stretches from beginning to end and who secures for us life that never ends” Phil Ware http://www.verseoftheday.com/
