CROSS GENDER SCHOOL SPIRIT

As a former college soccer player, I remember the days of “school spirit” we would wear our jerseys all day to classes prior to our matches. This is done all through out schools to show and demonstrate support for each others schools. Now days, most schools (colleges) get most of their income from athletic events, so school spirit events can be as critical as the games in order to draw fans to the events.

In the outskirts of the California Bay Area, a middle school decided to take “school spirit” a bit far by requesting their students to dress as the opposite gender in order to show their support for the school. Flyers were posted around the campus without notifying the parents.

A parent outraged in anger met with Adam Clark, the principal of the school to oppose to the “special” event. The response from Principal Adams to the parent was that “the event would carry on Friday as planned, and she could keep her son home from school if he did not want to participate”.

The parent contacted attorney Matthew McReynolds at PJI on Monday and was advised to involve other parents to contact the school to demonstrate their disapproval of the cross dressing event. McReynolds also began laying the ground work to hold the school accountable for their actions.

The very next day the event had been cancelled. Students instead were encouraged by the school to wear the school colors on that given day. Parents expressed relief that their children would not be pressured to cross-dress or be subjected to a sexually-charged school environment.

Great job to the mother who stood up for basic standard beliefs that have an effect in our community (s) everyday. Although to some the actions by the mother and the law offices of PJI might seem a bit far left; their actions are not further from the truth of Christian values that lack in schools today. Gay and Lesbian activist take opportunities like this one to enter into the schools of our very own children to manipulate their precious brains and to take away from the nuclear family.

I was pleased to find out the positive outcome of the story, besides pink has never been my color.
